This project uses colored water and sugar solutions made at different concentrations. The solutions will form layers, from least dense, on top, to most dense (concentrated) at the bottom of the glass.

What You Need

:bulletblack:   Sugar

:bulletblack:    Water

:bulletblack:   Coloring food (5 different colors: red, yellow, green, blue, purple)

:bulletblack:    1 Tablespoon

:bulletblack:  Syringe 10 ml or 5 ml

:bulletblack:    6 Glasses or clear plastic cups (5 glasses to add the colored water, a sixth to make the sweet rainbow).

Process

1)   Fill 5 the vessel with approximately 50 ml water.

2)   It adds a few drops of food coloring to different vessels.

3)  Make different solutions with colored water and sugar.

In this case:

:iconred-plz: no  tbsp of sugar.

:iconyellowplz: 1 tbsp of sugar (aprox 15 g).

:icongreen-plz: 2 tbsp of sugar (aprox 30 g).

:iconjustblueplz:  3 tbsp of sugar (aprox 45 g).

:iconpurple-plz:  4 tbsp of sugar (aprox 60 g).

Note: If the sugar does not dissolve in any of the glasses, then add 15 ml of water.

4) Now let's make a rainbow using the different density solutions. Used a syringe, extract 10 ml of each vessel with the colored liquid.

In the sixth cup, you must add the colored water using the syringe. Starting with the densest the which has more sugar (purple) to the less dense (red), has to do it very very slowly to do this effect.

Note: remember to clean the syringe with a little clear water every time it changes color.

Expectation: would have to be

The rainbow colors in my noggin by Maleiva Colorful experience by Maleiva

Note:

The shape of the glass enhances their results, it is suggested that 6th cup  is thin.

The 6th cup should be small with capacity from 60 to 100 ml  to make "the sweet rainbow".

To test tubes, extract 4 ml in  each cup with colored water.

It is an experience with simple materials and easy to acquire. You can do it!
