He walked cautiously along the rest of his squadron, tail laid straight behind him as if it were a banner, nose damp with morning dew as he heard the sniffs and coughs of the men behind him. Nothing was to be seen, however, for his eyes were blindfolded to block out the 'harmful lighting' of the sun’s rays. Beautiful and majestic, the big glowing star in the sky would be his only sign of direction if he could gaze upon it. However, he kept his eyes open and straight ahead of him seeing nothing but black. His eyes brushed lightly against the fabric. He was so used to it that the scratching no longer bothered him. His limbs below him trampled through the tall blades of grass with an awkwardness common of fawns after birth. His belly... he could feel the stain of mud leaving it’s mark on his pelt. It was hard not to squint, but he hoped that  if he did open his eyes, he might see through the darkness of the fab     

        

        

        

Meet the Monster: Part 1Bright magenta eyes glowed behind the face of a wolf in a sea of gray. Without pupils, the body they navigated seemed to wander aimlessly across the landscape. Her head hung low, tongue lolling from crimson smothered jaws.Her throat urged to howl at the sky, but she was far too weak to do so. Far too weak to hardly stand on her own limbs, she trudged through a earthen patch that had slowly faded to gray over time. She had to sift through the grains with a bit of effort as though it were sand. How much she wished that it were sand, but it smelled of decayed flesh, disease, and fear. Her pelt stood on end every time she inhaled. The scent stung her nostrils. Around her, she could smell the ash of a fire. She herself smelled of blood and sweat she could also smell her own flesh, burning with the kiss of a flame she either forgot about or simply imagined. Looking back, she saw her skeleton peeking playfully through base of her flank as if it were taunting her with her own life. It stained
